Many of you Rookies came through with guidance that will hopefully help incoming freshmen feel a little less nervous maybe even kinda excited? It took me until April to realize that not everyone can do the same things, and it takes time for people to find themselves. Experiencing all different types of people is super dope, and I think is kinda necessary. Get the backpack that looks durable and will fit all of your things with room to spare. Bags from JanSport or the North Face are popular at my school, but any brand that makes bags with good straps and proper padding will do. Keep your friends close, and do the best you can in class. I honestly forgot that all the time last year, and will probably do the same this year. Just try to have fun and be yourself.
Oxford, OH, home of Miami University. As juniors, we were both eager to move into our first off-campus homes with our respective friends. Though Rachael and Allen thought they were looking for nothing serious, they eventually changed their minds and began officially dating at the end of their junior year of college. After finishing school in May of , Allen moved to Cleveland for his first job and Rachael moved to Dayton, OH to begin student teaching. So, when Rachael got a teaching job offer in Cleveland, it was a no brainer.

We currently have stories with more being added every day Freshman Dedication Posted by: My name is Roger and my twin brother’s name is Steve. I have written before and I wanted to share our town’s football ritual. I am twenty and I went through this ritual when I was a freshman and my dad and his dad both went through the same ritual when they were freshmen in high school, so what I am saying is that it has been around a long time. The Saturday before two-a-days all of the high school football team, incoming freshmen through seniors, dads, granddads and local preachers dedicate the day to the freshmen.
We are all very fortunate to be doing what we are doing — playing junior hockey. But there are so many in the world who are not so fortunate to be in a position to do much of anything. Christmas is not so great for young boys and girls who wake up with nothing under their tree. For years the Florida Eels Junior players have stepped up in a small way and made donations of toys to help make these boys and girls have something under their tree and yes believe.
Guys even though these gifts may be a small token for you they are significant for the children. Please bring all toys to the Eels office to Clare. The gifts must be unwrapped. Thank you so much in advance for your help, cooperation and generosity. The Eels are chasing the Palm Beach Hawks who have 22 points.

Children of church members were attending college, only to reject the faith of their parents. Jones later recalled that in , his friend William Jennings Bryan had leaned over to him at a Bible conference service in Winona Lake, Indiana , and said, “If schools and colleges do not quit teaching evolution as a fact, we are going to become a nation of atheists. Jones said that although he had been averse to naming the school after himself, his friends overcame his reluctance “with the argument that the school would be called by that name because of my connection with it, and to attempt to give it any other name would confuse the people.
Both time and place were inauspicious. The Florida land boom had peaked in , and a hurricane in September further reduced land values. The Great Depression followed hard on its heels. One of the nicest aspects of campus life is that you are provided on campus housing for all four years – there are a variety of options that are open to all students beginning freshman year. Most freshman opt to live in dorms, but you have a choice between all freshman dorms and multi-class housing, most live with one other roomie, though you can get a single your freshman year and triples do happen.
Wesleyan provides you with a desk, dresser, chair and closet space. Trashcans become a college essential because it is super easy to let your mess be exacerbated by sheer garbage. Also, for those of us that like to try on 4 or 5 outfits in the morning and would rather do that from the comfort of your room – this way you can ask your roomies opinion – a mirror is a necessity that the school does not provide.
All freshman only dorms have twin beds that can be raised to create storage space! The beds are not uncomfortable, but an egg-crate or mattress topper is recommended. One of my friends on my hall freshman year had a fabulous mattress topper, we all napped in his bed, even when he wasn’t there! This for me is a great place to have a little discussion about hallcest – the comfy mattress topper was the precursor to two of my best friends dating and creating lots of tension amongst our friend family – anyway, though it can be a lot of fun to have someone on your hall to snuggle with on cold nights, once you pass the friend zone things can get complicated.
So, if you are contemplating making this leap, set boundaries, communicate with each other and your other friends, and have a little fun! On another note, hooking up with hallmates can be fun, but make sure to keep yourself happy and avoid creating awkwardness since you tend to become close with at least some of your hall and see everyone all the time.
All dorms have male, female and handicapped bathrooms.
